Rural Farmers Empowerment Program – Karnataka
The Rural Farmers Empowerment Program is an initiative dedicated to strengthening the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers across rural Karnataka. Through this program, 1,000 farmers will be supported every year with essential agricultural resources, modern farming tools, and technical guidance to improve productivity, sustainability, and income.
Agriculture remains the backbone of rural India, yet many farmers struggle due to limited access to quality seeds, irrigation equipment, farm machinery, and financial support. Providing timely agricultural inputs such as certified seeds, pump sets, farm tools, and tractors can significantly increase crop yield and reduce dependence on manual labor. Farm mechanization and irrigation support have been shown to improve efficiency and enable farmers to complete agricultural activities on time. (Bangalore Rural Government)
Under this program, selected farmers will receive agricultural support packages that may include:
• High-quality seeds and planting materials
• Irrigation support such as water pumps or solar pump sets
• Farm machinery access including tractors, tillers, sprayers, and harvest tools
• Organic fertilizers and soil improvement inputs
• Training programs on modern and sustainable farming practices
• Technical guidance on crop management, water conservation, and soil health
The initiative will prioritize small and marginal farmers, women farmers, and economically vulnerable rural households. In addition to equipment distribution, farmers will be trained on efficient water usage, crop diversification, and sustainable farming techniques to ensure long-term agricultural resilience.
By supporting 1,000 farmers every year, the program aims to enhance agricultural productivity, improve rural incomes, and create stronger farming communities. Over time, this initiative will contribute to rural economic growth, food security, and sustainable agricultural development across Karnataka.
The long-term vision of the program is to empower farmers with the tools, knowledge, and resources they need to become self-reliant, productive, and resilient in the face of changing environmental and economic challenges.
