In the face of these challenges, there's an urgent need to take action to mitigate the impacts of climate change and restore the city's greenery. Tree plantation emerges as a powerful solution, offering numerous environmental, social, and economic benefits. With the campaign "People's Planet," we aim to mobilize the community to plant one million trees across Bangalore in the year 2024-25, fostering a collective effort towards reclaiming the city's lost greenery.

 

Objectives:

1. To plant one million trees across Bangalore in the span of one year 

2. To raise awareness about the importance of trees in combating climate change and enhancing urban biodiversity.

3. To engage citizens, businesses, educational institutions, and government bodies in a collaborative effort towards greening the city.

4. To create long-term environmental sustainability by establishing a culture of tree care and maintenance within the community.

 

Rationale:

1. Combatting Global Warming: Trees play a vital role in mitigating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. By planting one million trees, we can significantly contribute to reducing the city's carbon footprint and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.

2. Improving Air Quality: Trees act as natural air purifiers, filtering out pollutants and particulate matter from the atmosphere. By increasing the green cover in Bangalore, we can improve air quality, thereby promoting public health and well-being.
