Urban forests are the lungs of our cities.
Peoples Planet develops and nurtures urban forests within city landscapes to combat pollution, regulate temperature, enhance biodiversity, and improve overall well-being. These green spaces are carefully planned using native species to ensure ecological balance and long-term sustainability.
Our urban forest projects transform unused and degraded land into thriving green ecosystems that benefit both nature and people.
People’s Planet builds urban forests in Indian cities by identifying neglected or unused land and bringing it back to life. These spaces are transformed into dense green patches that cool the area, improve air quality, and give people a break from concrete and heat. We plant native tree species that are suited to the local climate and soil, not decorative imports that struggle to survive. This helps the forest grow faster, use less water, and support birds, insects, and other urban wildlife that have quietly disappeared from our cities.
Planting is only the first step. Each site is cared for through regular watering, mulching, and protection during the early years, when trees are most vulnerable. The goal is to grow self-sustaining forests that can survive without constant human intervention. These urban forests are created for the people who live around them. They become everyday green spaces, reduce urban heat, and remind cities that growth does not have to come at the cost of nature.
